Abu Dhabi, UAE – 05 November 2026: Abu Dhabi Islamic Bank (ADIB), a leading Islamic financial institution, has announced the launch of 24/7 real-time Egyptian Pound (EGP) transfers to eligible bank accounts across Egypt, becoming the first bank in the UAE to offer this capability through Visa Direct.

The launch marks a significant milestone in the rollout of ADIB’s Remit proposition, which was introduced in partnership with Visa. ADIB Remit gave ADIB customers access to Visa Direct’s global money movement network, enabling them to send funds to more than 18 billion eligible cards, digital wallets, and accounts worldwide. The new Egypt capability demonstrates how that global infrastructure is being translated into faster, locally relevant payment experiences across key remittance corridors.

ADIB customers can now initiate EGP transfers directly through the ADIB Mobile App, with funds delivered in real time to eligible bank accounts in Egypt, including outside traditional banking hours, on weekends and public holidays. The service provides customers with greater speed, certainty, and convenience when sending money to family, friends and beneficiaries in Egypt.

Egypt is one of the UAE’s most important remittance corridors, with cross-border transfers playing an important role in supporting families and meeting everyday financial needs. By combining ADIB’s digital banking capabilities with Visa Direct’s global money movement network, the new service facilitates fast and secure real-time transfers to eligible cards, bank accounts, and wallets in Egypt.

ADIB and Visa previously announced their partnership to launch Remit, a real-time cross-border money transfer service powered by Visa Direct. The partnership enables ADIB customers to access Visa Direct’s extensive global reach through the ADIB Mobile App.
