The Bank of England will withdraw legal tender status of their paper Β£20 and Β£50 notes after 30th September 2022. They have been replaced by new polymer Β£20 and Β£50 notes.
If you have any paper Β£20 or Β£50 notes, we encourage you to use them or deposit them with your bank before 30th September 2022.
As paper notes are returned to the Bank of England, they are being replaced with the new polymer Β£20 notes featuring JMW Turner, and polymer Β£50 notes featuring Alan Turing.
After 30th September 2022, only polymer notes will have legal tender status.
